Todays sightings

A great start to the morning with plenty of waders and ducklings on the reserve.  The number of black-tailed godwits are fluctuating, a few of them have colour rings on.  If you see a bird with colour rings please try and get the combination and either tell the front desk or pop it in the sightings book.  The black-tailed godwits can have light green and dark green colours which can be confusing, they sometimes have leg flags and metal rings with a large cross on.

This beautiful painting by Ben Green shows a lovely black-tailed godwit in breeding plumage showing off its lovely colour rings.
