High tide spectacle at saline lagoon
The latest from the saline lagoon...on Friday 31 January we will experience one of the highest tides of 2014 as the River Wear floods into our newest habitat.
Exciting, yes, but even more so because it will happen while the centre is still open to the public; an event which doesn't occur often across the year. Great stuff!
The high tide will peak at approximately 15.45, reaching a predicted height of 5.6m.
Those visitors wishing to watch the water flooding through the river bank breach and into the lagoon should get down there about 30 minutes beforehand...then simply find a vantage point and enjoy the spectacle! :-)
