Well eventually strong easterly winds have paid off with a multiple arrival of interesting birds today, a Temmincks Stint was seen briefly in flight with 2 Ringed Plover over the Mere mid afternoon, but a proper search this evening paid off with not 1 Temmincks but 2 together feeding on the Mere before they flew out of view. Also while looking for the stints, 2 Wood Sandpiper and a drake Garganey were seen from United Utilities hide along with 3 Yellow Wagtails again.

This morning a flock of 3 Little Egrets flew over the reserve before splitting up and providing a few sightings throughout the day. A Red Kite was seen very distantly from Ron Barker hide this afternoon and could well be a different bird to yesterday evenings fly through judging by the number of Red Kites in Lancashire at the moment!    TD
