Dark-bellied Brent again.

Dark-bellied Brent flew in around 2.45pm with Pink-footed Geese viewable on Woodend Marsh from the United Utilities Hide.

A glorious spring-like day. The first reported Curlew of the year came in today with 5 birds from the Ron Barker Hide. Still 20 Avocet mostly on the Mere. Other waders included 400+ Lapwing, 2 Ringed Plover, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 70+ Ruff and a Common Snipe.

Three Stonechat, 2 males and a female on fence posts on Plover Field. Skylarks were in song over the reserve fields in the morning. Raven also there.

Reported raptors included 2 Peregrine, 3 Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk.

Two Tawny Owl were flushed from near the Kingfisher Hide during a spring clean of nest boxes there.
