Brambling

Two Brambling at the Janet Kear feeding station were new birds, keep checking for Hawfinch, a bird was on feeders in Southport yesterday.

On Woodend Marsh viewable from UU Hide today were 2 juvenile Little Stint, 223 Snipe, 63 Ruff, 1130 Lapwing, 7 Dunlin and a single Redshank was on the Mere.

Some counts of wildfowl included 2900 Teal, 587 Wigeon, 470 Shelduck, 83 Shoveler, 60 Gadwall, 137 Pintail, 24 Tufted Duck, 12 Pochard, 2 Goldeneye, 258 Coot and 300 Whooper Swan.

At least 4 Marsh Harrier today including 2 birds squabbling over the remains of a dead Mallard, also 2 Kestrel, 7 Buzzard and a Barn Owl was out hunting on Pump House flash.

A Water Rail was again seen on Sunleys from Ron Barker Hide, also from here were 3 Kingfisher and 3 Stonechat.

At least 2 Cetti's Warbler again heard in the Reedbed Walk area.

Up to 4 Little Egret were seen yesterday

Some details of the ringed Greenland White-fronted Goose seen a few days ago, it normally winters in southeastern Ireland at Wexford Slobs and is an adult female bird.
