Bird News

Waders continue to dominate the bird reports from around the reserve - a single Golden Plover in breeding plumage from the United Utilities hide this morning was unusual for this time of year. 2 male Ruff were on Vinsons as were several Redshanks, Ringed, and Little Ringed Plovers, while on the Mere at least 4 Green Sandpipers, a Common Sandpiper and 2 Dunlin (adults in full breeding plumage) were present, along with a few Oystercatchers and Black -tailed Godwits.

An adult Peregrine was hunting over the reserve mid-morning.

Late reports from yesterday included 2 Common Terns on the Mere, a Barn Owl along the Reedbed Walk, and a female Marsh Harrier.
