Late news from Tuesday night to start today's round-up, when 2 Spotted Crakes were heard calling from the reedbed walk.

Today, 2 Green Sandpipers, Peregrine, Barn Owl, and a Common Kingfisher were seen, the latter showing well from the Janet Kear hide. Various species counted on site today - thanks to Lee Bailey for these - include Shelduck (94 adults, 58 young), Shoveller (13), Gadwall (7), Common Teal (12), Tufted Duck (12), Lapwing (215), Redshank (15 adults, 1 chick), Oystercatcher (6 adults, 2 chicks), and Avocet (31 adults, 11 chicks). A group of 4 Greater Black-backed Gulls was also noteworthy.
