We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. Recent Sightings 8th - 14th October

Highlights: Snipe, Cattle Egret, Barn Owl, Curlew Sandpiper, Grey Plover, Great White Egret

A joyous sight on Friday morning was 2 Snipe on the stone islands in front of the Peter Scott hide. This area seems quite a popular place for some of our rarer birds, with a Cattle Egret being spotted late last Friday afternoon.

This week also saw a WEBS (Wetlands Bird Survey) count on Tuesday morning, which included 796 Black-tailed Godwit, 262 Curlew, 207 Knot, 56 Dunlin, 45 Greenshank, 7 Wigeon, 6 Spoonbill, 3 Grey Plover, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, and a Great White Egret.

A selection of other wildlife highlights this week include a Barn Owl over Dafen Scrapes, a Clouded Yellow Butterfly and a Water Shrew in the Millennium Wetlands, a Kingfisher on the Marsh Scrapes and a Great Spotted Woodpecker seen over the Grounds.
