WWT Llanelli will be closed for one day on Wednesday 20 May.

We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. Recent Sightings (7th-9th Mar)

British Steel Hide

One Ruff, 2 Spoonbill and Spotted Redshank have been seen out on the saline lagoons recently. Also counts include 223 Black-Tailed Godwit, 33 Dunlin, 25 Lapwing, 14 Knot, 12 Redshank and 6 Greenshank and a Curlew. Other waterbirds seen have been 99 Wigeon, c.40 Oystercatcher, 14 Shelduck, 11 Tufted Duck, 8 Brent Geese, 5 Greylag Geese and 3 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, Pintail  and a Little Egret. Around the saline lagoons 2 Buzzard, 2 Mistle Thrush, as well as a gull count including 327 Black-Headed Gull, 4 Herring Gull, 4 Lesser Black-Back Gull have been noted.

 

Millennium Wetlands

Two Kingfishers were darting through the ponds on 8th, as well as 2 Jay and a Green Woodpecker. On Deep Water Lake; 33 Black-Tailed Godwit, 14 Shoveler, 13 Tufted Duck, 12 Shelduck, 12 Gadwall, 5 Snipe, 5 Lapwing, 5 Pochard, 4 Canada Geese, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Grey Heron, Little Egret were counted recently. Also a Pintail and the Ring Neck Duck made an appearance on 8th. Out near the car park over 100 Redwing have been seen!
