Recent sightings 31st August - 4th September

Otter - Russ Myners

British Steel Hide

Spotted from the British Steel Hide on the 31st have been 280 Redshank, 46 Greenshank, 10 Dunlin, 22 Little Egrets, 189 Curlew, and 771 Black Tailed Godwits. A Gannet was also seen flying up the estuary, and the juvenile Marsh Harrier has been spotted again.

 

Millennium Wetlands

Kingfisher continue to be regularly spotted from the Herons Wing and Sir Peter Scott hides. Others spotted include Green Sandpiper, Lapwing, Grey Heron, Gadwall, Mallard, Teal, and Tufted Duck. Green Woodpecker have been seen from the footpaths around the wetlands. Over the weekend Otter have been spotted from the Herons Wing hide swimming across deep water lake.

 

On the saline lagoon there are numbers of Teal, Shoveler and Pintail. Also spotted was a Common Sandpiper and a Wigeon.

Over the Dafen scrapes both Goshawk and Sparrowhawk have been spotted.

Plenty of butterflies and dragonflies have been spotted out in the sunshine including Small Copper, Painted lady, Common Darter, and Southern Hawker.
