Recent Sightings 27th - 29th November

Highlights - Avocet, Water Pipit, Spotted Redshank, Spoonbill, Firecrest

British Steel Hide

There are now 2 Avocets on the Saline Lagoons view able from the British Steel Hide. There are also lots of other wader species such as: Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Lapwing and Curlew. There are still at least 2 Spoonbills hanging around on the Saline Lagoons and a Sparrowhawk puts in a brief occurrence every once in a while. On the Dafen Scrapes the elusive Water Pipit is being seen slightly more regularly. If you look carefully you should be able to spot a few snipe scattered around the edge of the lagoons.

Millennium Wetlands

The Wildfowl numbers are increasing quite quickly with lots of Pochard, Tufted Duck, Teal, Gadwall, Mallard and Shoveler. There has also been a Buzzard and Sparrowhawk circling over the Deep Water Lake occasionally. A few Snipe were seen on the island by the Deep Water Lake.
