WWT Llanelli will be closed for one day on Wednesday 20 May.

We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. We will reopen on Thursday 21 May as usual. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Recent Sightings 10th - 16th January

Highlights - Spoonbill, Grey Wagtail, Redshank, Fox, Garganey and Rabbits.

British Steel Hide

If you are looking for some good news... the spoonbills are back now the ice has thawed! A beautiful grey wagtail with a bright yellow stripe seems to have made friends with our Bewick's swan. There has been a big roost of about 800 herring gulls on the saline lagoon in the evenings and there have been more redshank too. A sparrow hawk has been seen very regularly - and luckily not by our bird feeders!

Millennium Wetlands

Foxes have been seen a few times this week in varying places, leaving us wondering how many territories there really are on the reserve! Many water rails have been heard or seen near the welsh water hide and in the reed bed channels because it is such perfect habitat for them. Both a garganey and pochard have been spotted on deep water lake. There have been a few cute bunny rabbits around too!
