Cattle Egret on the Long Ground

The rather sporadic Cattle Egret made another brief appearance on the reserve today, it was seen in the Long Ground Pool adjacent to the Canoe trail.

Rushy Hide

The female Goldeneye returned this afternoon. 80+ Bewick' Swans, the Pochard x Ferruginous Duck hybrid.

South Lake

13 Cormorant, Gery Heron, 260 Black-tailed Godwit, 120 Lapwing, 8 Shoveler + Common, Black-headed, Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

Bottom New Piece

Five Greylag Geese (bulky, paler birds that have been around late), an Egyptian Goose, 105 Canada, Russian White-fronted Goose and 24 Shelduck. Top New Piece- 530 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 3 Pochard, 8 Snipe, Cetti's Warbler, 270 Teal + 400 Dunlin and 450 Lapwing moving between the two fields. 1500+ Golden Plover later in the morning.

Estuary Tower

Cattle Egret in the Long Ground Pool, look East toward the grounds. 300 Wigeon and 24 Shelduck.

Tack Piece

Curlew arriving on the field to feed, a good count of 25 Ruff + 45 Redshank, 170 Wigeon and 22 Shelduck.

Duck Decoy

Cetti's Warbler and Goldcrests from the boardwalk for much of the day.
